Milwaukee Bucks center Myles Turner is making headlines off the court for his extraordinary commitment to giving back to the community that shaped him.
The 30-year-old NBA veteran has officially pledged $2 million to his hometown school district in Texas. This donation will help fund local athletic programs and invest in future generations of student-athletes.
Honoring His Roots: The Myles Turner Fieldhouse
As part of a new sponsorship and pledge agreement with the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District (HEB ISD) near Dallas, Turner is directing a $2 million gift toward the HEB ISD Education Foundation.
In recognition of his long-standing support and historic connection to the district, the newly built Trinity Arena at his alma mater—Trinity High School in Euless, Texas—has officially been renamed the Myles Turner Fieldhouse.
Turner grew up in Bedford and graduated from Trinity High School in 2014 as a McDonald’s All-American before playing at the University of Texas. He called returning to his roots a full-circle moment. Trinity High School retired Turner’s No. 33 jersey in 2016, making him the first male basketball player in the school’s history to receive the honor.
“The DFW Metroplex has always been home for me,” Turner shared during recent community announcements. “The opportunities these communities have provided me were integral to my success over the years. So giving back to the Metroplex that shaped me is something I take seriously.”
A Growing Pattern of Community Investment
Turner’s $2 million commitment to HEB ISD athletics is just the latest in a series of significant philanthropic efforts.
Through his W.A.R.M. Foundation, Turner recently announced a separate $1 million multi-year pledge to Empowering the Masses, a Dallas-based nonprofit dedicated to fighting food insecurity and helping underserved families.
For Turner, using his position as an NBA player to effect real change is a top priority as he prepares for the upcoming NBA season.
“As an NBA player, I understand that my platform can be used for more than basketball,” Turner explained. “I want to help bring attention, resources, and opportunities to issues that impact families every day.”
Looking Ahead to the Bucks Season
While Turner continues his philanthropic efforts off the floor, Bucks fans have plenty to look forward to on the court. Turner recently helped organize player-led workouts for his Milwaukee teammates ahead of official NBA training camps opening later this month.
The Bucks are set to open their regular season on October 21.
